"Casamar" in Little Harbour Abaco, Bahamas

"Casamar" is a spacious 4 bedroom house situated on two oceanfront acres. Five sets of sliding doors open onto an extensive deck that overlooks a large landscaped yard, and a spectacular view of the Atlantic Ocean, its massive reefs and a mile long secluded beach. A Tiki Bar decorated with the treasures from many years of beach-combing sits in its own Coconut Grove right on the ocean in front of the house.
Casamar is completely off the grid, powered by the sun and wind. A state of the art solar system and wind generator provide all the power used at the house. Water is supplied by rain and is stored is large underground cisterns. Propane is the only fuel that must bought to provide gas for the cooking stove.

The large master bedroom [16 x 20] has a king size bed and opens onto a private deck overlooking the yard and reefs in the Atlantic ocean in front of the house and onto the main deck of the house.

Bedroom #2 has a queen size bed with a sliding glass door opening onto the main deck overlooking the Atlantic Ocean.

Bedroom # 3, or the "flag" bedroom, has a queen and single bed and opens onto the deck overlooking the ocean.
The fourth bedroom has a set of bunk beds and its own private deck.

The large kitchen and dining area are set up to cook and entertain at the same time. The owners are restaurateurs and have provided the kitchen and house with everything necessary for entertaining and enjoyment.


Nothing tastes quite like a meal on the deck, better known as the "Palm Room", overlooking the ocean after a full day of fishing and playing on the ocean and beaches around Little Harbour.

"Casamar" also has it own Tiki Bar or "Pirate Club" in front of the house overlooking the wide Atlantic Ocean. It is the perfect place to overload your senses by watching, smelling, listening, tasting and feeling the ocean waves breaking on the reefs and rocks a few feet away. This is also a great place to soak up some rays in total privacy, have lunch, or an evening fire and cook out!


"Casamar" is located 20 miles south of the Marsh Harbour airport and is part of the remote community of Little Harbour, an artist retreat with excellent fishing, pristine waters and beautiful beaches.
Little Harbour was founded by bronze sculptor Randolph W. Johnston and his wife Margot in the early 1950's. They settled on the Abacos while searching for a place to raise their young family in a seafaring, pioneering atmosphere far away from what Randolph described as the "Mega-machine" of the cold war era.The history of the Johnston familyis a study of independence, self reliance and determination. Today the artistic tradition is carried on by Randolph's son Peter and his sons Greg and Tyler. The only commercial enterprise in Little Harbour is Pete's Pub & Gallery. The Gallery holds a treasure of bronze sculpture created by Randolph before his death in 1992, and beautiful bronze and gold creations reflecting the local sea life produced in the foundry by Peter.


After a relaxing day at your "Casamar" a short stroll down to the harbour will bring you to Pete's Pub. Pete's Pub is truly an experience to be added to your vacation memories as on any given day you'll find an interesting blend of sailors, yachtsman, fishing guides, artists, 21st century pirates, local residents and guests from around the world. Pete's Pub is truly a one of a kind world class bar and needs to be experienced to be believed. Many guests at Casamar have spent most of their entire vacation at Pete's Pub.

For those who love to fish while staying at "Casamar", the waters around Little Harbour are a world class destination for all types of fishing. Some of the best deep sea fishing in the world takes place in the waters in front of Casa Mar. Every spring the Bahamas Bill Fish Championships and the Bertram - Hatteras Shootout takes place in Marsh Harbour and many sport fisherman in the fleet can be seen fishing from the decks of the house.
Trolling the reefs or bottom fishing around Little Harbour yield grouper, snapper and many other species of delicious fresh fish for the table at Casa Mar.

If fly fishing is your passion, some of the best bone- fishing on the planet takes place on the flats near "Casamar" in Little Harbour and Cherokee Sound. The waters around Little Harbour makes it easy and affordable for anglers to experience the wonder and natural beauty of Abaco's bone-fishing flats. A short walk or skiff ride brings you to "Old Robinson's Bight" where you can wade for hours through crystal clear waters hunting the elusive bonefish. On a typical dayanglers may encounter small sharks, barracudas, rays, turtles, herons and many other creatures that make the micro-environment their home.Local guides can be arranged for all types of fishing for guests at Casamar.


For divers, the waters around Little Harbour offer many opportunities for the novice and expert alike. At the entrance to Little Harbour is Stub Reef, or as the locals call "Rookie Reef" where even the beginner can enjoy the underwater magical world of a living coral reef. The waters here are very protected and shallow making it easily accessible for the beach.For the experienced diver the ocean in front of the house holds massive coral heads and an extensive reef system loaded with fish of every color, shape and size imaginable. An assortment of snorkeling gear is available in the dive locker at the house free of charge, however to assure the best possible diving experience your own equipment is highly recommended.
Don't forget an underwater camera, the scenery is not to be forgotten. Several dive shops in Marsh Harbour rent scuba gear and lead daily dive trips for certified divers.

For those who enjoy hiking, walking or photography the roads, trails and beaches around Little Harbour offer an endless supply of destinations. The harbour beach and Pete's Pub are a short 5 minute walk from Casamar, or take it a little further and explore North Beach and the Little Harbour Lighthouse, a ruin from the past. A 15 minute hike will take you to "Old Robinson's Bight", a beautiful shallow body of water known for its excellent bone-fishing. Bookies Beach, the incredible ocean beach seen from the deck of Casamar is only a short 10 minute walk from the house.


Amenities at "Casamar" include a large library of novels, games and the owners collection of books on sailing, diving, fishing and adventure travel.The living room has a DVD player and TV with collection of movies and Cd Player& XM satellite radio. All linens and towels are provided as well as a gourmet kitchen with all cooking utensils and charcoal BBQ grill. Pets and children are always welcome at Casamar. Dock access can be arranged for rental boats. Best of all there is a fine Yucatan Hammock set with a million dollar view.
Flyfisherman who enjoy tying their own flies will find a chest complete with vices, hooks and all parts to make your favorite bonefish flies!
